Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Versus defending champion Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their maiden Fall Classic after the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, remain the one club yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance this season.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this one," he added.
The Blue Jays won the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
